The Body Shop haul

Hello Ladies!Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the rains 😀 Today I’m going to write about a mini haul I did from The Body Shop’s online store when they had some EOS discount going on.

First up is the strawberry puree lotion-

This lotion feels kinda sticky while applying but easily gets absorbed into skin after some time. It’s very lightweight hence appropriate for the summers. It may work for those with normal-oily skin in winters but girls with dry skin should totally avoid this lotion as it won’t provide much hydration to the skin. It has a very sweet strawberry like smell which isn’t too overpowering and lingers for an hour or two.

Overall it’s a good lightweight moisturizer for the summers and should totally be avoided by dry skinned ladies.

Price – Rs.695/- 250ml

Pros –

Smells good

Good lightweight moisturizer for summers

Another moisturize that i picked up is The Body Shop Shea whip cream

Although it’s more moisturizing than the strawberry one it still wont help those with dry skin. It is creamy in consistency but doesn’t last too long so even those with normal skin will have to reapply after about 5-6hours. The major gripe i have with this lotion is its smell. I can’t really point to how exactly it smells but it’s something like those cheap strong perfumes that give headaches.Thankfully it doesn’t linger on for too long and fades away in some time.

Overall I’m not happy with this lotion. In spite of being creamier than the strawberry lotion it doesn’t do much in the moisturizing department and add to that the horrible smell.

Price – Rs.695/- 250ml

Good for summers

Smells horrible (at least to me)

Last product is the Rainforest coconut hair oil. After reading all the positive reviews online i really wanted to try out this oil. I thought i would be a non sticky and light weight oil, turns out it’s not.Not that I’m complaining coz I’m just loving it.Not only has it reduced the amount of hair fall but has also added shine to my hair. I even use a little amount of it as serum after towel drying my hair post wash.D It has a weird ,albeit not overpowering ,smell similar to plastic crayons which i dont really mind as it doesn’t linger on for much time.

Overall im loving this oil and can totally see myself repurchasing. 😀

Price – Rs.695/- for 200ml

No silicones and colourants

Adds shine and volume to hair

Travel friendly packaging.

Doesn’t have a strong smell

Cons- Expensive for a hair oil

2.  Jennifer Lopez Cowlneck Cable- Knot Sweater- Okay so I have been doing a lot of shopping lately, and purchased this sweater at Kohls from the Jennifer Lopez collection. I purchased this for 29.99 and boy should I say ….this was totally worth it.  Cowlneck sweaters are perfect for the winter time and are super adorable at the same time.

3.  PeaCoats:  If you don’t have a peacoat…you should surely consider purchasing one. I recently got mine from JcPenny from the style&co collection. It is black with gold buttons. These, keep you super warm during the winter break and again make you look extremely fashionable! 🙂

4. Bath&Body Works Twilight Woods Body Mist: I love Bath&Body Works, I seriously just want to buy the whole Now, one scent which I love is, Twilight Woods. I usually spray some after I come out of the shower and then after I put on my coat. The scent is long wearing and keeps your clothes smelling fantastic.

5. Booties!-  Booties ( SHOES) are my current obsession.  These are again, an amazing way to look stylish but also very comfortable!:)

For all those who like getting ready quick or for people like me who don’t have much in the morning to whip out creams and plaster on face  and are running helter skelter to get ready  , this is a great option. Twist , dab and blend. TADA work done .Has a smooth texture ,glides on easily ,evens out face, covers pores to a good extent. Has a  twist  packaging and even a spf of 21.The only downside being the limited (read:2 L )shades available. One can be too light while the other too dark for Indians with wheatish complexion. Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Kiss Review.

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Kiss

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Kiss

When I like a particular product , I hoard  and use it till I get bored of it or the product gets bored of me  i.e  stops working on me :-P. Also I don’t experiment much  with basic stuff like a lip balm , body lotions etc. So it took me a while (1.5 yr to be precise :-P) to decide to move away from my favourite Nivea lip balms and search for other good options . And I’m glad I did because otherwise I wouldn’t have got an  opportunity to try out these much raved about cuties by Maybelline .

What the product claims :  No more basic lip balm

  • The secret: Exclusive lip renew formula
  • Protects and moisturizes for a full 8 hours
  • After 1 week*, lips are visibly renewed, virtually reborn
  • 6 varieties

For best results : Apply your lipcolor by starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of your lip , following the contours of your mouth . Then glide across the entire bottom lip

My views:

The shade I’m reviewing today is “cherry kiss” a peachy coral shade that gives a slight but noticeable tint on lips and has SPF 16 . Though it is sheer it evens out the lips and makes them look plumped up (may not be that effective on heavily pigmented lips). For me it’s a MLBB (my lips but better )shade as it gives a natural look to my lips which is actually a boon for me as I’m not at all a lipstick person and were them only on special occasions but still prefer a light color on them. So for girls like me who prefer natural and fresh looking lips then this product is a must buy. I just love how it feels on my lips and add to that the mild , sweet smell it has .Major love :D.DSC_0314

It moisturizes the lips well and keeps them hydrated for quiet a few hours , not 8 hours though but it does leave a slight tint and softness even after fading away which is major plus point .The texture is good and would require just 2-3 swipes. The quantity is really good for the price it comes and packaging is sturdy yet cute. Overall it is a hit product from the stables of Maybelline and I can totally see myself hoarding these cuties 😀

  • Hydrating , moisturizes lips pretty well
  • Decent lasting power
  • Smells good.
  • Reasonably priced
  • Cute and sturdy packaging

Cons: Can’t think of any.

Price : Rs.150 – 4.5gm

Rating :4.5/5

Have a nice day. 🙂

Organix Penetrating Oil Renewing Moroccan Argan – REVIEW

Renewing Argon oil of Morocco:

*Image from Google*

Product Claims: Penetrates, moisturizes, renews , and creates softness, and strength while protecting your hair from harmful styling heat and UV damage as it gives you smooth , sexy tresses.

Directions: according to the package: Apply a small amount of Argan oil to palm , rub hands together , then apply evenly to surface of damp ( towel dried ) hair working through to ends. I like to also use this before straightening my hair.

My review:

Argan oil had been something  which I been wanting to try since forever. I had heard many positive reviews regarding this product from family and friends. One day while shopping at target, I decided to head off to the beauty department and finally came across Argan oil. I bought this for around 6 dollars, which was pretty good compared to what I had expected! So finally, after coming home I decided to give this product a try even though my hair was already styled. I took about 3 drops and rubbed the oil between my hands and massaged through my hair evenly. Now my first impression of this product is that it smells AMAZING! My  hair has become so much more softer and stronger after using this oil. I have been using this product every time I straighten my hair, and it has made my hair less frizzy and more silky!. I highly recommend everyone to try this product. This stuff is literally amazing. One important thing to remember is making  sure you only put a little amount in your hair or it will become oily, and that is not good ! Other than that, go buy this stuff it will leave your hair feeling ah- mazing 🙂

– Smells amazing!

-Makes hair soft, silky, and smooth 🙂

– Helps control Frizz!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 50+

When it comes to buying skin care products , I hardly ever look beyond Neutrogena. Their products have never disappointed me and this is the reason I keep going back to them. So when it came to buying a new sunblock , I knew I  had to look no further Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with SPF 50+ .

Neutrogena ultra sheen dry touch sunblock spf 50+

Neutrogena ultra sheen dry touch sunblock spf 50+

What the product claims:

Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 50+ is a revolutionary, dermatologist-tested formula that contains Helioplex technology, the latest breakthrough in UV protection.Helioplex delivers unbeatable UVA protection. It works better to help prevent damaging UVA rays from penetrating deep under skin’s surface. Dry-Touch technology absorbs excess sunscreen oils, leaving a clean, lightweight, non-shiny finish.Serious sun protection never felt this light on your skin. This product features Helioplex, a breadth of stabilised sunscreen technologies that delivers superior protection from the sun.

  • Waterproof , sweatproof , resists rub-off
  • PABA-free and oil free
  • Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)

Directions (as given on tube) : Apply liberally on face and body 15-30 minutes before sun exposure .For added protection , reapply after swimming  , towel dry or extended sun exposure.

My views:

So does it really live up to it’s claims?? My answer would be a big YES!!!!!. It has become a HG sunblock for me and I can’t even think of stepping out of house without applying this.

It does live up to all the claims it makes  and  not only provides a solid protection against the harsh sunrays but also moisturizes the skin well and keeps it hydrated throughout the day without making it look greasy. So people with normal-oily skin can skip wearing a moisturizer.

The problem with many sunscreens or any cream with spf content is the white cast that they leave behind on face which can make your face look ashy and ghost-like in flash photography. Fortunately this sunblock doesn’t leave behind any such white cast and just gives  a slight glow without any trace of oil. It also keeps the face sweat free to a good extent and lasts quite long. If you’re going to be out in the sun for too long , reapplication after 4-5 hours maybe required.

blended and unblended swatch

blended and unblended swatch

It has a very nice mild fragrance that lingers around for a while ,so people with sensitive nose have nothing to worry about .It scores well in the packaging department as well .The tube  is travel friendly and doesn’t get messy around the nozzle. The quantity is also good for the price it comes at but many stores seem to have stopped stocking the smaller sized tube. I don’t know whether it has been discontinued by the company itself , because  it’s available on many online websites . I got my tube back in May this year from a Neutrogena store ; just when I was about to walk out of the store not wanting to buy the bigger sized tube the SA stopped me and gave the smaller variant saying that it was the last piece left with them .:| 😛

Shelf life : 24 months from Mfd.

Price : Rs.175 for 30ml.

Rs.499 for 88ml.

Rating: 4.5/5 .

Neutrogena Gentle Daily Cleanser Review

I normally am hesitant when buying facial cleansers because I feel they would ruin my skin. However, after hearing many raves about this product from my aunt I figured I should try this out. I knew this wouldn’t be harsh on my skin since its specifically supposed to be a gentle cleanser. I would say overall this is a good product and worth a try. I like the fact that it instantly removes makeup and doesn’t dry out my skin completely compared to the other cleaners I have tried.

Price: Around $7

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector v/s Pond’s White Beauty BB+

BB  creams have arrived in India & how! Almost every other brand is jumping on to the bandwagon and launching their own BB(some have even gone ahead & launched CC creams ,what next?? DD , EE creams? 😛 ).Currently there is no dearth of BB creams in the market and thanks to their ‘all in one’ claim , they’re here to stay .By the time this post is published , many reviews would have already been done on them .So instead of doing what is already done I would be comparing two of the BB creams I have and used for quite a long time to finally pass a judgment .The two BBs in question are the Garnier’s Miracle skin perfector and Pond’s white beauty BB+ .

Garnier Fructis Goodbye Damage Strengthening Shampoo review

If an award were to be given for a brand with the most attractive advertisements for hair care product’s  category then garnier would win it hands down ,(don’t  you all just love the ads??my favourite was the one that had priyanka dancing with a puppy , though it  was for a different product ) & then there is the funky packaging (shiny orange , yellow and green bottles ) that makes us want to get our hands on the products ASAP. But it would also win in the category of “ The brand that almost every time fails to live up to its staggering claims” .
