The Body Shop haul

Hello Ladies!Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the rains 😀 Today I’m going to write about a mini haul I did from The Body Shop’s online store when they had some EOS discount going on.

share_tempory

First up is the strawberry puree lotion-

This lotion feels kinda sticky while applying but easily gets absorbed into skin after some time. It’s very lightweight hence appropriate for the summers. It may work for those with normal-oily skin in winters but girls with dry skin should totally avoid this lotion as it won’t provide much hydration to the skin. It has a very sweet strawberry like smell which isn’t too overpowering and lingers for an hour or two.

Overall it’s a good lightweight moisturizer for the summers and should totally be avoided by dry skinned ladies.

Price – Rs.695/- 250ml

Pros –

Smells good

Good lightweight moisturizer for summers

Cons-

Expensive

Another moisturize that i picked up is The Body Shop Shea whip cream

Although it’s more moisturizing than the strawberry one it still wont help those with dry skin. It is creamy in consistency but doesn’t last too long so even those with normal skin will have to reapply after about 5-6hours. The major gripe i have with this lotion is its smell. I can’t really point to how exactly it smells but it’s something like those cheap strong perfumes that give headaches.Thankfully it doesn’t linger on for too long and fades away in some time.

Overall I’m not happy with this lotion. In spite of being creamier than the strawberry lotion it doesn’t do much in the moisturizing department and add to that the horrible smell.

Price – Rs.695/- 250ml

Pros-

Creamy

Good for summers

Cons-

Expensive

Smells horrible (at least to me)

Last product is the Rainforest coconut hair oil. After reading all the positive reviews online i really wanted to try out this oil. I thought i would be a non sticky and light weight oil, turns out it’s not.Not that I’m complaining coz I’m just loving it.Not only has it reduced the amount of hair fall but has also added shine to my hair. I even use a little amount of it as serum after towel drying my hair post wash.D It has a weird ,albeit not overpowering ,smell similar to plastic crayons which i dont really mind as it doesn’t linger on for much time.

Overall im loving this oil and can totally see myself repurchasing. 😀

Price – Rs.695/- for 200ml

Pros-

No silicones and colourants

Adds shine and volume to hair

Travel friendly packaging.

Doesn’t have a strong smell

Cons- Expensive for a hair oil

Top 2 Favorite Mascaras! :- )

Hey guys!

Hope everyone had an amazing Valentine’s Day with your loved ones:)  Today’s post is on mascara. Yes MASCARA 🙂 Now I don’t know about you guys but mascara is definitely one of my favorite makeup products!  I am the type of person who loves long/voluminous lashes and finding a good mascara is definitely hard!  I usually stick with the Maybelline mascaras but this time I wanted to try a different brand and came across the L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara & L’Oreal Voluminous False Fiber lashes. I gotta say, I was quite impressed with both the mascaras and well definitely repurchase them in the future.

****Image Credit = GOOGLE***

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

*** Price around $6 at Target

Here is a picture of the wand! As you can see the way the wand is shaped is perfect for separating lashes.

The Voluminous Butterfly mascara definitely adds volume/length and the flexible wand is amazing at separating the lashes! The formula is pretty wet so its lets you build up the mascara without any clumping!

Pros:

– Separates lashes

-Gives Volume

-No Clumping

-Gives Length

-Great for people who like flaring their lashes at the end

Cons:

-Not really any 🙂

L’Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes

** Price around $8

The Voluminous False Fiber Lashes is one of the BEST mascaras for volume! No joke! This seriously gives tremendous amount of volume and the product is buildable!( is this even a word? Lol) .  The formula is a bit dry which can cause some clumping when building coats but it’s not THAT much of an issue! These two mascaras are definitely worth the money!  And I for sure am gonna repurchase them 🙂 Hope this review helped ya guys!

 Pros:

-Gives TREMENDOUS amounts of volume

-Gives length

-Gives a good smokey look

Cons:

-Formula is a bit dry

– Some clumping if you put more than 2 coats

Be winter ready : Skin care tips

Its that time of the year to slip in those warm & cozy clothes and snuggle in blankets. And it is also that time of the year when the skin is as dry as the sahara desert and requires a lot of pampering. Here are some tips that will help you all in combating with winter related skin issues.

1. Oil massage before taking bath:

Prior taking bath , massage your face and body with oil. You can use almond oil , coconut oil , sesame oil etc. Skin can become too dry and tight after washing with water , so by giving it a massage with oil before bathing will help locking in some moisture.

2. Milk cream + turmeric massage :

Instead of using oil , you can opt to massage with milk cream with some turmeric powder. Milk cream moisturizes the skin well leaving it baby soft  while turmeric makes it clean , fresh and light.

Instructions:

  • Just  take some cream  (quantity depends on whether you are using it on face or body ; for face u can take 2-3 teaspoons)
  • Mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric in it .
  • Apply on face and massage well for about 7-8 mins.
  • After massaging leave for about 15mins and wash off with lukewarm water.

3. Moisturize right after taking bath :

Apply moisturiser right after taking bath because the skin absorbs it quickly and remains hydrated for a long time. Avoid using moisturisers with lots of chemical and a strong fragrance ,  instead go for one which has vitamin E in it.

4. Scrub  once a week :

Exfoliating skin helps in removing dead skin cells which can make the skin look dull and sometimes patchy so it is advisable to exfoliate at least once a week. However , do not use a scrub with  harsh , thick , hard granules as excessive scrubbing can strip skin off its natural oils .Also do not do it daily , just once or twice a week is fine. Better use a homemade scrub with ingredients having good moisturizing properties. You can use oatmeal / rice powder /apricot etc and mix either with raw milk or milk cream.

5.Moisturize area around eyes:

The area around eyes gets too dry sometimes which might lead to forming wrinkles .Late nights and  sitting in front on computer for prolonged hours only adds to the woes. So keep it as hydrated and moisturised as possible. You can massage it with almond oil , coconut oil or even milk cream .Aloe vera gel will ease the puffiness and tiredness of eyes.

6.Moisturize lips :

Lips are the worst effected body part in winters due to the absence of oil glands in them. So it is very important to keep them moisturized round the clock to prevent them from drying , peeling and getting dark. Avoid lip products with harsh  chemicals and opt for those enriched with vitamin E. You can use natural ingredients like milk cream ,honey etc. Like skin exfoliating lips is also necessary however it should be done very gently  (detailed post on lip care coming shoon).

 7.Use Vitamin E products:

Vitamin E is considered good for skin , so along with taking vitamin e supplements (only if you have been advised to or have no allergy/side effect to it) , you can include products enriched with it in your daily regime.Pick up products like foundation ,body lotions ,moisturizers,  face creams , lipsticks  etc which have vitamin e as the key ingredient.

8. Stay hydrated and do not forget to use a good sun screen:

Low temperature means low intake of water. But our body needs equal amount of water as it does in any other season.Drink water at regular intervals and be hydrated .Also ,the sun rays are as harsh and harmful in winter as they are in any other season. So do not put that sunblock away and use it daily.

Hope you all would like the tips and include them in your daily regime.

Have a great weekend ahead ! 🙂

For all those who like getting ready quick or for people like me who don’t have much in the morning to whip out creams and plaster on face  and are running helter skelter to get ready  , this is a great option. Twist , dab and blend. TADA work done .Has a smooth texture ,glides on easily ,evens out face, covers pores to a good extent. Has a  twist  packaging and even a spf of 21.The only downside being the limited (read:2 L )shades available. One can be too light while the other too dark for Indians with wheatish complexion. However if  you’re lucky enough to have a complexion that matches the shades available then go grab it!

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Kiss Review.

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Kiss

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Kiss

When I like a particular product , I hoard  and use it till I get bored of it or the product gets bored of me  i.e  stops working on me :-P. Also I don’t experiment much  with basic stuff like a lip balm , body lotions etc. So it took me a while (1.5 yr to be precise :-P) to decide to move away from my favourite Nivea lip balms and search for other good options . And I’m glad I did because otherwise I wouldn’t have got an  opportunity to try out these much raved about cuties by Maybelline .

What the product claims :  No more basic lip balm

  • The secret: Exclusive lip renew formula
  • Protects and moisturizes for a full 8 hours
  • After 1 week*, lips are visibly renewed, virtually reborn
  • 6 varieties

For best results : Apply your lipcolor by starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of your lip , following the contours of your mouth . Then glide across the entire bottom lip

My views:

DSC_0325DSC_0310

The shade I’m reviewing today is “cherry kiss” a peachy coral shade that gives a slight but noticeable tint on lips and has SPF 16 . Though it is sheer it evens out the lips and makes them look plumped up (may not be that effective on heavily pigmented lips). For me it’s a MLBB (my lips but better )shade as it gives a natural look to my lips which is actually a boon for me as I’m not at all a lipstick person and were them only on special occasions but still prefer a light color on them. So for girls like me who prefer natural and fresh looking lips then this product is a must buy. I just love how it feels on my lips and add to that the mild , sweet smell it has .Major love :D.DSC_0314

It moisturizes the lips well and keeps them hydrated for quiet a few hours , not 8 hours though but it does leave a slight tint and softness even after fading away which is major plus point .The texture is good and would require just 2-3 swipes. The quantity is really good for the price it comes and packaging is sturdy yet cute. Overall it is a hit product from the stables of Maybelline and I can totally see myself hoarding these cuties 😀

Pros

  • Hydrating , moisturizes lips pretty well
  • Decent lasting power
  • Smells good.
  • Reasonably priced
  • Cute and sturdy packaging

Cons: Can’t think of any.

Price : Rs.150 – 4.5gm

Rating :4.5/5

Have a nice day. 🙂

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector v/s Pond’s White Beauty BB+

BB  creams have arrived in India & how! Almost every other brand is jumping on to the bandwagon and launching their own BB(some have even gone ahead & launched CC creams ,what next?? DD , EE creams? 😛 ).Currently there is no dearth of BB creams in the market and thanks to their ‘all in one’ claim , they’re here to stay .By the time this post is published , many reviews would have already been done on them .So instead of doing what is already done I would be comparing two of the BB creams I have and used for quite a long time to finally pass a judgment .The two BBs in question are the Garnier’s Miracle skin perfector and Pond’s white beauty BB+ .

5 Great Ways To Use Coconut Oil!

Image

Make sure to use pure coconut oil. I like to use Parachute Coconut Oil . You can find this at any Indian grocery stores.

Plus this will be a cheaper!

1.  Eye Makeup Remover: Coconut oil is a great way to use as a makeup remover without breaking out. Take a cotton swab and pour some coconut oil on it, then use it wherever makeup applied. Removes eyeliner/mascara very quick 🙂

2. Hair Deep Conditioner:  Heat up some coconut oil in a bowl and then massage the oil onto your hair. Leave it overnight and wash it off the next day. Do this once or twice a week but not everyday!

3.Eyelash Strengthener: Whenever I remove my mascara, I like to dab on some coconut oil on my eyelashes. This conditions the eyelashes and helps to become stronger.

4.Shaving Cream:  Instead of using shaving creams, use coconut oil which will also moisturize your skin.

5. Cuticle Oil : Dab some coconut oil on where there is dry skin on your fingers this will help them look nice & healthy 🙂
